
Formation Flying Endorsement
Our Formation Flying Endorsement course teaches you the skills required to fly safely in close proximity to other aircraft. You’ll learn formation positions, station-keeping, rejoin procedures, and safe separation techniques – all in accordance with CASA requirements. Training focuses on precision handling, communication, and situational awareness so you can operate confidently as part of a formation in a variety of flight conditions.

Prerequisites

Hold at least a CASA RPL (or higher) with current flight review.

Current medical certificate appropriate to licence.​

Requirements
Flight Training Requirements (CASA minimums):

Competency-based training (typically 5–7 hours dual and/or in multi-pilot formation scenarios).

Demonstrated ability to maintain position, perform formation changes, and execute rejoins and breakaways safely.

Instruction in both lead and wingman roles.
Theory Requirements:

Ground training on formation flight principles, visual lookout techniques, radio procedures, and emergency contingencies.

Knowledge check with instructor prior to first formation flight.
