Commercial Pilot's Licence (CPL)

Our Commercial Pilot Licence course prepares you for a professional career in aviation, meeting all CASA requirements with expert instruction and comprehensive training. You’ll develop advanced flying skills, decision-making abilities, and knowledge to operate complex aircraft safely and efficiently. From precision handling to navigation, instrument flying, and emergency procedures, this course is your gateway to flying for hire or reward.

Prerequisites

To get a CPL, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old

  • be able to speak and understand a certain level of English

  • complete the theory examinations for the relevant aircraft category

  • complete flight training with a Part 141 or 142 operator and be recommended for the flight test

  • meet the minimum aeronautical experience requirements

  • pass the flight test for the licence

  • hold a class 1 medical certificate.

Requirements

Flight Training Requirements (CASA minimums):

  • Minimum 200 hours of aeronautical experience (up to 10 hours can be in a flight simulation training device)

  • At least 100 hours pilot-in-command (PIC) time

  • (If you hold a CPL or ATPL with a helicopter rating, PIC requirement reduces to 60 hours)

  • (If you hold a PPL with a helicopter rating, PIC requirement reduces to 80 hours)

  • Minimum 20 hours PIC cross-country flight time

  • Must include a flight of at least 300 nautical miles with full-stop landings at two aerodromes outside the training area

  • Minimum 10 hours dual instrument flight time in an aeroplane

  • Minimum 10 hours dual flight time

Theory Requirements:

  • Completion of CASA CPL theory exams covering air law, navigation, meteorology, aerodynamics, human factors, aircraft systems and Performance.

  • Ground school sessions tailored to prepare you for CASA written exams and flight tests.
