
Command Instrument Rating (MECIR/SECIR)
Our MECIR course trains experienced pilots to command multi-engine aircraft under instrument flight rules. This rating focuses on advanced IFR operations, multi-engine systems management, and decision-making in complex flight environments. Delivered in line with CASA requirements, you’ll gain the expertise to safely operate as pilot-in-command in multi-engine IFR conditions.

Prerequisites

Hold a current CASA PPL or higher.

Hold a current multi-engine class rating.

Hold a current CASA Class 1 or 2 medical certificate.

Completed a flight review within the last 24 months.​

Requirements
Flight Training Requirements (CASA minimums):

Competency-based training including multi-engine IFR procedures (typically 10–15 hours dual).

Demonstrated proficiency in multi-engine instrument approaches, holds, departures, and emergency procedures.
Theory Requirements:

Ground instruction on advanced IFR regulations, multi-engine systems, performance planning, and emergency management.

Completion of CASA instrument rating theory exams or equivalent knowledge checks.

Aircraft
This course is conducted in our P68 Partneavia JQM or your own aircraft (Must be Multi engine for MECIR, IFR certified)
